On a business trip, I stayed at the Courtyard Pittsburgh Downtown in July 2014. Marriott Courtyard over the years has been one of my favorite hotel brands. Consistent, comfortable and trusted.
Here there was only one problem, but for the primary purpose of a hotel, it was a biggee. The pillows were very lumpy. I got a replacement which was just as lumpy. Otherwise, the bed was quite comfortable.
The desk and office chair were above par for working away from home. The desk provided easy power access and a lower typing shelf that pulls out for more ergonomic typing.
Internet access is free, however, unless you use a VPN service I do not recommend using hotel WiFi access; the security risk is too high. Instead I set up a secure hot spot on my smartphone. At a minimum, when you use free WiFi service, ensure your firewall is turned on and file sharing is turned off.
Too rare in hotels, I was pleased to see a nice flat corner shelf in the shower so I didn't have to balance stuff on the tub's edge. There were also nice large towels.
Getting to the hotel from the airport, my options were:
Supershuttle, 800-258-3826, less costly but slower with multiple stops and wait for its availability. I took the traditional transportation, Yellow Cab, (412) 321-8100.
Like all Courtyards, I recommend this one, but call ahead to check on the pillows. I ended up laying a towel over mine...not the most comfortable solution.
I lost the photos that I took, so those below are from the hotel's website.
