I stayed here in January 2016 with a room on the top floor. My first impressions were good. The staff is exceptionally friendly. The manager, Roger Mahood, is very personable and obviously wants his guests to be happy with their stay. As I was at the front desk another guest came in and Diane, the front desk person, called him by name with a welcome greeting. I soon discovered that much of their clientele is older repeat guests. Access to the hotel from the main road leading to the beach from Port Orange is very easy (one turn and there is the hotel). The hotel is beach front. This is the good news.
This Days Inn is very old and shows its age. It is relatively small; don't expect a morning breakfast. There is one ice machine on the basement floor. The bed was reasonably comfortable but the pillows were awful—washed until the padding was naught but a pile of knotted balls.
There is no power on one side of the bed, but the other side has a pleasant surprise—a clock with built in USB charging port. I like to read my Android phone Kindle in bed, so I like to be able to leave it at the bed side plugged in.
At the small desk I had to stoop under the table to unplug a light to have a power outlet for my computer.
Bathroom counter space is larger than normal. The shower head needed to be replaced. How old is this hotel? There are separate knobs for hot and cold water. Worse, each turns in opposite directions and requires way too many turns. That makes things interesting when you try to turn off the shower without getting burned or frozen.
Rooms have a private balcony overlooking the ocean. Each balcony has tall side walls for privacy (but also requiring one to lean out to see down the beach.
